not too long ago i was (jokingly) talking to meg about making a snh48 gua ranking, and we were basically just thinking along the lines of 'would [x girl] gua for [x girl]?' in order to get to the top ranks. i gave it a little more thought because i am a full-time river citzen who likes to waste time on ranking girls who are already subjected to being ranked as their irl jobs, and so here is my INCREDIBLY SUBJECTIVE ranking of my top5 snh48 guas.

Please know that regardless of how much I’ve written for each ship in this letter, I’d be happy with any ship at all. I’m also not very picky, so aside from my DNWs, feel free to ignore my rambly thoughts and go in whichever direction you’d like!
Any rating or length is fine! When it comes to femslash I really love 1) unrequited love, and 2) repressed jiejie (like, "older sister") x overly-forward meimei ("younger sister"), but that might not apply unless it's a cpop ship. In terms of other stuff, I really like emotional vulnerability being hard for one character (and easy for the other maybe?), fucked up power dynamics, identity issues, yearning, pining, snarky and world-weary characters, us against the world, love shown through actions, UST. I'm also totally okay with unhappy endings, because I I just love suffering, hahaha...

To be honest with you I just want English SNH fic in general, so any pairing/relationship is fine! I wrote a lot about what I might be more interested in here and I'd still love to read all of it, but in particular: 

Sun Rui/Xu Jiaqi 

Ah, the angst-ridden 37cp. Honestly, I don’t see it as extremely angsty–I know people were all influenced by that ONE douban cp post talking about Kiki’s unrequited crush on SR that spanned for 6 years, but honestly, I think of them in another way. I just think that if anyone was to have an unrequited crush, it would be SUN RUI–Kiki is in 7senses & is constantly overworked…….. I don’t think she has time to dwell on an unrequited crush. I just love how their relationship has, as Kiki once said, exploded at first and then settled into a comfortable friendship–because while I do think they tried to do the whole “cp” thing in the beginning, SR realized she couldn’t do it, so they stopped. It reminded me of gay chicken, lol: I’d love a fic where both of them try to start their “cp” & outgay each other. Another idea that I have is them in a fwb situation, and SR being too scared to ask for more, and Kiki not knowing that she wants more (bcs SR is very flippant sometimes). I just think about this cp a lot. They’re great.

To expand on the gay chicken headcanon I have…. I once texted a friend this:

I have this gay chicken headcanon of kiki and sunrui making this pact to “market” their ship in 2013 and then sunrui eventually gets uncomfy bcs she’s not exactly straight so she loses and then its just 4 years, post 2016, of kiki tormenting sr slowly knowing that she’s won bcs sr thinks she’s hot and wont act on it

Ok my thoughts of this have expanded from last year but I do think that DDD's incredibly large crush on SR is something that I'd love to read fic on! Nevertheless, as I texted my friend:

I enjoy it so much because it is true that one of sunrui’s “straight man” qualities is that if she sees a cute girl her first instinct is to BULLY (confirmed by her). she only knows how to do that because she’s an idiot and a coward and very emotionally constipated. and ddd is cute and small and so fun to bicker with and they will bicker until they fall in love

However if you are considering writing SNH fic I'm sure you have your own ship(s) that you'd love to write and I'd be happy for you to write any pairing!!!!! (Ok maybe not the unspeakables. But. Well).

GNZ48 - ANY

See SNH, similar thoughts--any ship will suffice! But I am a huge, huge danke (Chen Ke/Zheng Danni) fan, and I would be over the moon to read fic about them.

Ship DNWs: Nothing sexual between them when ZDN is underage, please!

Ok I'm going to try and keep this to a minimum because I have thoughts! Too many thoughts! They're the EPITOME of the repressed jiejie x overly-forward meimei trope that I love. Chen Ke is my favourite GNZ member, and I do think she's also very narratively interesting: for someone who claims to be #happy #sunshine #openbook #loveyourself #positive all day long I do think she keeps a lot to herself. She also has SO much idol baggage, as seen by the fact that she refuses to be "hua" (err... bottom, or more traditionally "feminine" part in a couple dance) for anybody, and gets embarrassed soooo easily despite wanting to start shit all the time, which is hilarious! The fandom likes to call her 人菜瘾大, which basically means "loves to play but is shit at it" hahaha. 

ZDN is my favourite jiejiefuckr69 and I LOVE how she's the #1 jiejie stan in the whole of SNH. It's also clear to me given danke's history that she really looks up to and admires CK, and also has historically had the biggest crush on her... and has let her KNOW it. And yes, the age gap is a bit... ehh, I am quite interested in how CK had to basically hold ZDN at an arm's length while simultaneously being her best friend/best jiejie, as there was always a line drawn between them pre-2020. 

Ok. I won't go on forever because I really can. Some fic ideas for them though!

• Obsessed with the thought of ZDN potentially popping CK's 'stage hua' virginity. And how embarrassing it must be for CK because of all her boundaries/idol baggage, depsite the fact that she totally loves it deep down...
• I do think CK is quite 'service top-y' in general & would be interested to read fic in which she is fuckbuddies with other SNH/GNZ members (& ZDN, being younger & without experience, being quite curious about what it's like)
• 小奶狗 ZDN x jiejie CK
• CK coming to terms with the fact that she no longer thinks about ZDN as a child and likes her, and the moral conflict that comes with that! Especially to CK, who is very adamant about idols being public figures with good morals
• ZDN being jealous/petty/childish w/ CK interacting with SMY/Liga
• CK thinking that ZDN & XCW have something going on and feeling very weird about that and trying to come to terms why

GIRL'S PLANET 999 - ANY

I put any because again, I just really want GP999 fic in general! In terms of personal interest I really like Fu Yaning (o yea lets go EVIL!), and would totally be into any ship w her and one of her 'sworn enemies' (You Dayeon, CLC YUJIN). In general I think FYN is very much a 'jiejie' but is trying very hard to be kewl, which is also why I think FYN/SRQ would be very interesting, as SRQ is just...... inherently cool and bking and a lot less repressed than FYN.

COUPLE OF MIRRORS - ANY

Yet another one of those fandoms where I just think there should be more fic, lolol. 

Xu Youyi/Zhang Wan

I'm actually super interested in their backstory, which I feel the show did not expand enough on! How did they go from being bffs to Zhang Wan sleeping with XYY's husband, lolol? Some ideas I have:

• ZW having actually been in love with XYY and for whatever reason decides to deal with that by sleeing w/XYY's husband (bcs she believes XYY to be unattainable/straight lol, and that's the closest she can get to "having" XYY)
• XYY figuring out that ZW is having an affair with her husband and trying to turn that around by "seducing" ZW
• Hatesex, dub-con etc would be interesting w them.... please feel free to go as depressing as you want, just without my DNWs. 

Xu Youyi/Yan Wei

I feel like canon didn't really touch on the parts of the ship I was interested in? E.g, how XYY would react when she finds out that YW killed her "best friend". I don't have specific ideas, but I'd be interested to read anything to do with the pining/yearning from YW's side and just. Emotional constipation lolol, also the way XYY is able to compartmentalize her emotions and how that plays out for this pairing. 

Yan Wei/Zhang Wan

Ok this one is pretty random but I think it'd be interesting to read something in an AU where XYY is killed/ZW survives & ZW/YW have to pick up the pieces and bond over the death of someone that they both loved. 

FIRE EMBLEM THREE HEROES - Catherine/Shamir, Catherine/Rhea

OKAYYYYYY I realized I hadn't filled anything in but please know that I'm okay with anything! Honestly I'm really into the angst potential of Catherine/Shamir, esp. on the crimson flower route if Shamir takes Edelgard's side & fights against Catherine & has to kill her (go for all the angst and MCD!). I'd also totally be into Rhea being a third party (literally and metaphorically) in the Cathmir relationship lolol, I do think that Catherine is a Rheafucker69 and her obsession w/Rhea is definitely a huge part of her as a "person". Like I wonder if a sexual Cathmir relationship would result in Rhea roleplay hahahaha. I could also see Shamir being quietly resigned to the fact that (she thinks) Catherine will never like her back because she's obsessed with Rhea. 

GENSHIN IMPACT - Jean/Eula, Beidou/Ningguang

Jean/Eula

Some thoughts:

• eulajean is just very good bcs eula is trying so hard to hate jean but jean is just too nice and too fair to hold a grudge (and too busy) so it's just this one-sided rivalry that leaves eula feeling pathetic and bcs jean is also Very Hot a little horny too
• headcanon eula rants about "that gunnhildr girl" to kaeya 24/7 and kaeya is just like... "if i didn't know better i'd think you have a crush on her" in that incredibly blasé Kaeya Tone that implies that he 1) does know better and 2) thinks that eula has a crush on her
• and then eula spends forever furiously obsessing over kaeyas words when she next meets jean lmaooo
• one-sided hatefuck buddies would also be very good but unfortunately jean is just too nice it wouldn't be as fun..... if jean had the ningguang sense of Nice Utilitarian Ruthlessness it'd be so fun! it'd be nice if someone wrote jean a little bit more rutheless than she is, hehe

Beidou/Ningguang

SOOOOO into the idea of competence kink with them.... I have lots of scattered thoughts on what I'd love to read w/them: LOTS of UST, Beidou constantly trying to fluster Ningguang but never being able to, Beidou not being able to read Ningguang, mutual snarking, power couple things!!
